Trip to Mountsberg Conservation Area

On Wednesday, October 11, Chisholm Academy’s Grade 7 and 8 students spent the day at Mountsberg Conservation Area. Amidst the beautiful fall colours and sunshine, we learned about raptors that live in the area and adaptations they have to help make them successful in their environment. We even were able to get up close and personal with some of the residents of the raptor center. The students seemed to really enjoy meeting the bald eagle named Cornelius and the cute little screech owl named Echo. After lunch we headed out to the forest to participate in a simulation game. Students were assigned roles of herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore then headed into the forest to play a real life game of hide and seek, animal style! Students found creative ways to camouflage and hide from predators while collecting food for their own survival. We had a great day of fun outdoors and took part in some experiential learning.  A great time was had by all!
