Our current tuition is $29,800 annually; however, not all parents have the resources to afford private school tuition. Chisholm can help you maximize your child's success through our financial support programs. Parents can save as much as $15,000 annually! While we offer three payment schedules, we are always willing to review your circumstances and adjust tuition payments to fit your individual needs.
Our Process:
When applying to the school, let us know that you wish to be considered for a bursary. Bursaries are based on financial need alone. We will require you to complete a comprehensive application, including a net worth statement and tax returns that a bank or CPA validates.
We will always do our best to assist you with tuition costs. We are pleased to explain all your options during our interview. You never waste our time applying if you are concerned about tuition payment.
While we know much about savings, strategies, and bursaries, we are not financial service advisors and always recommend sharing this information with your financial services professional.
Bursaries: For Families Who Require Financial Assistance
- Chisholm Foundation Bursary: As a charity registered with the Canada Revenue Agency, our Foundation offers bursaries of varying amounts to families needing our financial support.
- Dr. Howard Bernstein Bursary: As the founder of Chisholm Academy, the Dr. Bernstein Bursary provides a secondary student with a% reduction in tuition for two years of high school attendance.
- Dr. Shirley Bryntwick Bursary: In recognition of Dr. Bryntwick’s contribution to the school, a child at the senior elementary level will be entitled to a tuition reduction for grades 7 and 8.
- Anonymous Donor Support: An appreciative family has pledged to support a student annually based on individual needs of the family, with preference given to those with a learning disability or ADHD.
Other Ways to Save:
- Extended Tuition Payment Plans: You may pay tuition over 8 - 12 months with minimal finance charges. With a personal guarantee and registered legal document, you may be able to pay for tuition over an extended period (ie, 4 years’ tuition paid over 6 years) without any finance charges.
- Medical Tax Credit: Canada Revenue Agency recognizes Chisholm as a facility that can support students with special needs. As such, you can likely claim your tuition as a deduction under the medical section of your income tax.
- Health Spending Account: This insurance product generally allows you to pay for tuition with pre-tax dollars. For example, if you are in the highest tax rate, you will save approximately 50% of tuition costs.
- Disability Tax Credit: A small group of students is eligible for the DTC, so their parents receive an additional tax break.
- Sibling Discount: If two children from the same family are enrolled at Chisholm Academy, one student receives a discount of $1,500 annually.
- Chisholm Referral Program: Every currently registered family who refers a student we accept receives a $1,500 tuition deduction for each year both families are in the school.
- Grandparent Support: Many of our students have some or all of their tuition covered by grandparents. Rebates received by parents from CRA are often paid back to the grandparents as a recognition of their support.
- Limited Attendance: Parents consider limiting attendance to 2 years at Chisholm to reduce overall costs. This strategy may be appropriate for grades 7 & 8 to prepare for high school or for grades 9 & 10 to maximize success in senior high school.
