Chisholm Academy Recognizes Orange Shirt Day

On September 30th, Chisholm Academy’s Student Council, in cooperation with our Grade 9 English classes, put together several activities to honor the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. Our staff and students dressed in orange, and participated in several activities, including a digital presentation, the creation of an Indigenous Art Collage, a school wide circle including short readings and a moment of silence, and participation  in traditional indigenous games.

In doing so, it provided our school with the opportunity to recognize the 10th Anniversary of Orange Shirt Day, while further building our cultural understanding and a path toward Truth and Reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous People.
