Walk T.O. “The Business of Art” Tour

On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Chisholm Academy’s Grade 10-12 Business and Art students participated in “The Business of Art Tour”, hosted by Walk T.O. This guided tour took place in the Toronto tunnel system found under Union Station and the surrounding business towers, known as the PATH.
Our guides have been involved in the art community in Toronto for many years. We learned of the corporate sponsorships of many of the displays we saw, including those beneath Union Station, the City of Toronto, and the Toronto-Dominion Bank.
These organizations, along with others, have opened up public spaces and provided funding to enable Toronto’s resident artists a platform to display their creations and enlighten the public about many issues. The art we enjoyed during the tour included works by People of Colour and Indigenous Peoples, which represents many of their struggles, aspects of their cultures, and many of their personal interests.
The artwork was diverse, using many different media, including oil paintings, cardboard sculptures of samurai warriors, Inuit soapstone carvings, carved ivory, frieze sculptures and photography.
After the tour we were able to enjoy a lunch in the vast food court area where there was a great variety of foods available.
