Movie Club Outing to “Wicked”, an Immersive, Exciting Experience

Chisholm Academy Movie Club members were transported to the fantastical world of Oz to see Wicked on the second outing of the school year on November 26, 2024. Twenty five students, chaperoned by Mrs. Chambers, Mrs. Moss, Ms. Edmonds and Mr. Tollefsrud, enjoyed this tale of emerging witches, devious deception and heroic friendship at Cineplex Cinemas Winston Churchill. The group then shared pizza and pop at nearby Boston Pizza before parent pickup. Students and teachers spoke positively about this Wizard of Oz prequel that combined back stories with new narratives not seen in the Wicked stage play. Glinda, played by Ariane Grande, and the green-skinned Elphaba, played by Cynthia Erivo, led a stellar cast of actors, dancers and singers who wove a spell on the audience. Settings such as the castle-like Shiz University, gleaming meadows and cliffs, along with the Wizard’s Palace, were made even more stunning through the cinema’s UltraAVX enhanced sound and image display on a massive screen. To quote one of the pricelessly twisted Ozian words, “congratulotions” to everyone who took part! The Chisholm Movie Club plans two more outings in the second semester.
