Students Build Leadership and Memories

Focusing on leadership and fun, Chisholm Academy’s senior students enjoyed a field trip to Camp Couchiching in Longford Mills, on September 25 to 27, 2023. Ms. Laube organized and led this amazing trip, supported by Ms. Edmonds and Mr. Tollefsrud. The training was provided by the Ontario Educational Leadership Centre. Students received hands-on and seminar training on aspects of leadership, including communication, creative problem-solving, trust, leadership styles and collaboration. The ‘Elements’ segments included archery, low ropes, and rock climbing on a 30-foot outdoor wooden wall. Students lived in rustic group cabins, two for the boys and one for the girls. The weather was mostly sunny and warm, perfect for activities that went from just after sunrise to sunset. Students and staff enjoyed cafeteria meals to fuel their energy. Each night was concluded with a cozy campfire accompanied by music and treats. The OELC staff spoke highly of our Chisholm students, observing their care and support for each other. This wonderful experience is now a cherished memory of living close to nature and working together in positive ways.
