Creative Writing with Sheridan College Students

On Monday, March 22, four students from Sheridan College’s Creative Writing & Publishing program joined the Grade 10 English class via Google Meet to share how to write in a way that spruces up the “everyday mundane”. They offered fun prompts inspired by TikTok challenges, writing based on senses, discussed what makes writing creepy or spooky and slipping fictional ideas into real-life narratives. As the Grade 10 students wrote, they shared their ideas with their peers and our guest speakers from Sheridan. The session finished with students asking questions and receiving feedback about how the programs prepares them for a career in writing as well as accommodations available for exceptional learners.
Thank you, Daisy, Sara, Sydney and Michelle for inspiring our students and making “the mundane” a lot less so!
