Remembrance Day

On November 8, staff and students at Chisholm participated in the Remembrance Day Ceremony. The focus of the event was the 100th anniversary of the Armistice ending World War One, and the 65th anniversary of the Armistice of the Korean War.  Staff and students were reminded of the sacrifices made by so many Canadians in both conflicts in order for us to live in a free and open society. Last year’s Remembrance Day Ceremony was a moving accounting of several of Canada’s major military contributions to world peace, at great cost to our small nation’s youth.  The ceremony inspired one of our students to write a song expressing his own feelings of grief and gratitude for the sacrifices made by Canadian soldiers’ on our behalf. We were delighted to have our Chisholm Music Ensemble perform this song. The Grade 10 Drama class also performed a moving rendition of the poem “And There Was a Great Calm”, by Thomas Hardy.
