Grade 9s Visit the Toronto Zoo

The Grade 9 Science trip on Thursday, October 18th proved to be a resounding success! The event included thirteen students and three teachers, namely Mr. Leonard, Ms. Mihajlovska, and Mr. Katsouras.

The Toronto Zoo is one of the largest zoos in Canada; home to over 5,000 animals representing 500 species. it offers full-year access to seven bioregion displays with over 10 kilometres of walking trails, including gift shops, exhibits, rides, and food services.

The trip was incredibly enjoyable, despite the rather chilly weather. Of particular interest was the disclosure of the large number of “at-risk” species, which interestingly supported the Ecology strand of the Grade 9 Science curriculum. Highlights of the trip included a visit to the rhinoceros enclosure and a viewing of the Arctic Fox and Arctic Wolf.

Mr. Leonard was able to plan the visit with meticulous precision to include a coveted visit to Tim Hortons before boarding the bus to return to campus!

Thank you all for making it a great day!
