Goodbye and Good Luck to the Chisholm Academy Graduates
Congratulations to the class of 2017! On Thursday, June 22nd, 2017, the Chisholm Academy community said goodbye and good luck to their graduates in a moving celebration of achievement.
Graduates, surrounded by proud parents, teachers and friends celebrated their academic and extra-curricular success. Academic, athletic and arts awards were presented by senior administrated to the many deserving graduates and Chisholm students. This year was particularly memorable as it saw the inception of two new awards; the Jeff Mendelson Performing Arts Awards, named after former Chisholm Student, Jeff Mendelson, who was in attendance to present to the first two receipts with their awards, and the Deborah Symons Award for Visual Arts named after our long time art teacher Mrs. Symons.
Grade 8 gradates received their middle school diplomas as they moved towards high school in the fall and grade 12 graduates received their high school diplomas as they leave the halls of Chisholm for Post-Secondary School adventures and the work place. Grade 12 valedictorian, Paul Cudmore, captured the memories of high school in a moving and well delivered speech.
The evening dinner with graduates, parents and staff continued the morning’s celebrations. A slide show of memory played throughout dinner and then everyone “Guessed the Grad” based on a series of childhood photographs. The most moving moments came as graduates took turns sharing their favourite memories of the year.
The night ended with many hugs, tears and final goodbyes.
Congratulations to all of our graduates, their parents and families on your hard work and success. We are proud of you and know you will make great waves in the world!
